After the anticipated event of Japan World Exposition 1970, Kenji and his friends wanted to test their courage by going to the hanging hill. The story about the place was described in Volume 8 Chapter 10. The story goes like this:
Hanging hill...
A foreigner used it as a hospital back in the 20's or so.
That foreigner had a Japanese foster daughter. Her name was Kanda Haru... She was a beautiful girl.
When the foreign doctor who took care of her passed away, she stayed inside and had her maids take care of her. Eventually, Kanda Haru took a foster daughter of her own.
Mother and daughter lived together for several years, until...
A man who visited Kanda Haru from time to time showed up again.
The man and her foster daughter disappeared together.
And then, Kanda Haru hung herself in the mansion.
Since then several people have seen the shadow of a girl in that second story window.
Some have seen that wooden gate close by itself.
And inside the mansion...the ghost of Kanda Haru.
