Description about Haneda Airport:
Tokyo International Airport (Japanese: 東京国際空港 Tōkyō Kokusai Kūkō) is an international airport in Ota, Tokyo, Japan. It is more commonly known as Haneda Airport (羽田空港 Haneda Kūkō). Its IATA airport code is HND, and its ICAO Airport Code is RJTT.
By passenger throughput, Haneda is the busiest airport in Asia and the fourth-busiest airport in the world, handling 63 million passengers annually.
Haneda handled most of Tokyo's air traffic until the opening of New Tokyo International Airport, now known as Narita International Airport. Except flights to Gimpo Airport in Seoul or some international charter flights, it now handles domestic flights exclusively. Despite this, it remains classified as a first class airport.
A second domestic terminal known as the New Eastern Terminal is scheduled to open on December 1, 2004
Haneda airport is also Tokyo's main domestic airport. It is conveniently located 16km south of central Tokyo. Confusingly, Haneda continues to be officially known as Tokyo International Airport, despite the fact that all international flights, other than China Airlines flights to Taiwan and those carrying high-ranking official visitors from overseas, now use Narita Airport. However, Haneda does have many domestic flights, including regular service to Hokkaido.
A monorail connects the airport to Hamamatsu-cho station on the JR Yamanote loop line. The journey time is only about 20 minutes. The Keihin railway runs to Shinagawa station on the JR Yamanote loop line and other stations in the center of the city. Limousine buses run to major Tokyo railway stations as well.
