Much like Father Nitani who also has dark past, Father Luciano was once a maker of fake bank notes. His life changed when he met Father Perrine who asked him to test the genuinity of a bible. He began reading the book. Later he became a priest, an apprentice to Father Perrine. After the death of Father Perrine in the year 2014, he took over Father Perrine project which involves a book which was made to look old. He investigated and met the person who created the book. The book contains some type of prophecy copied here and there from other religions. The book maker told about the person who commissioned the work. The book eventually lead Father Luciano to Japan as it states about the Pope's assasination in the East.
His allies when he arrived in Japan were Detective Chouno, Kanna and the gang.
