Since the end of 2014 AD, there's no more "Anno Domini (Latin: In the Year of Our Lord; referring to the Gregorian calendar system)", a new system has been in use -- FE (Friend Era). After that, a great wall was erected to separate the country.
Katsuo is a boy of the new era, Friend Era. He lives with Sanae --his sister, his mother, and his Grandpa (Volume 16 Chapter 7). In the year 3FE, Katsuo shelters a runaway man, Otcho. He's about to learn a great deal about the world he lives in.
