Kakuta is a comic artist with a good heart. He was captured and thrown in to Umihotaru prison (2014 AD). His crime was ....drawing comics (manga).
14 years ago, this prison's a beautiful under sea tunnel, a great Tokyo bay attraction. All of its prisoners are sentenced for more than 80 years of imprisonment.
Kakuta's the prisoner number 1498. While he's imprisoned here, he dreampt of holding pen and ink again. At this very prison, Kakuta met Shokun (Otcho) AKA Prisoner # 3. The two successfully escaped from the prison in the year 2014. From Otcho, Kakuta learned agreat deal about "Friend" and its conspiracy. Kakuta vowed to tell the true story to the world by writing a manga about a hero who rose against an evil empire.
