A mysterious figure who calls himself "Friend" is the main villian in this manga series. "Friend" seems to be one of Kenji's childhood friends or at least someone who know Kenji and his little secret base very well. "Friend" knows about a little child game Kenji and his friends made up when they were kids. The game was about making up a story that contain series of disasters ranging from bio-weapon (virus), and mass destruction by a giant robot.
"Friend" also found an organization which is much like a cult. By the year 1997, many people are strong believers to the sect. "Friend" also has a close tie with Majoume, the leader of an important Japanese Political Party (Yumin Party). Since then series of horrible events began to appear all around the globe starting from the unleash of lethal virus in San Francisco, London, and Japan.
No one really know that these horrible occurances are indeed what Kenji and friend thought up when they were young. On the New year Eve of the year 2000, "Friend" sent a giant robot out to destroy Japan, At this very moment Kenji and his friends (Yoshitsune, Maruo, Otcho, Yukiji, Mon-Chan, and Fukubei) rose up to fight against "Friend" organization. The outcome however, was disasterous. After the year 2000, Kenji went missing. Kenji's mission to safe the world, however, is continue to be carried out by remaining members of his friends.
We, the readers, didn't know until later in the series that "Friend" indeed is Fukubei, Kenji's classmate back in the year 1969. Friend was quite an unusual child who yearned for attention but he received none as a kid. Perhaps this is how he's gettiing his revenge.
